The Henri Landier space, a stone's throw from the Sacré-Coeur, presents a selection of works on paper by the French master all year round: engravings , lithographs and drawings .
Henri Landier arrived in Montmartre at the age of 17. Landier first learned the art of engraving at the École des Arts Appliqués before perfecting his technique at the Lacourière-Frélaut workshop . Marcel Mannequin taught him lithography. Like his painting, his style was initially dark. He favored etching before becoming interested in color and turning to the technique of aquatint . During his career, Landier produced approximately 2,000 engravings , which he printed himself on his hand presses , sometimes incorporating modifications within the same print run, making each of his prints unique.
